Standards and commitments for venues partnering with the Resistor platform.
Venues on Resistor are more than locations — they are stewards of the spaces where electronic music culture lives. This code of conduct outlines the standards that make a venue a trusted partner on the platform. These standards protect artists, attendees, and the broader community.
Venues have a primary duty of care to everyone on their premises. This includes artists, attendees, staff, and contractors. All applicable health and safety regulations must be met. Emergency procedures must be documented, posted, and rehearsed with staff.
Security staff must be trained in de-escalation, diversity awareness, and the venue's code of conduct. Door policies must not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or appearance. Profiling is prohibited.
Venues must monitor and manage sound levels to protect hearing. Free earplugs should be available. Sound levels must comply with local regulations. If the venue regularly exceeds 85 dB(A), hearing protection must be actively offered to all attendees.
Venues must have a documented procedure for handling reports of harassment, assault, or discrimination. At least one trained staff member per shift must be designated as the point of contact for safety concerns. Reports must be taken seriously, documented, and followed up.
Venues must accurately report their accessibility features on their Resistor profile. Do not overstate accessibility. If a feature is limited (e.g., wheelchair access to ground floor only), state the limitation clearly. Update accessibility information whenever physical changes are made.
All door policies must be non-discriminatory. Dress codes, if any, must be applied consistently regardless of gender, race, or perceived identity. "Right of admission" must not be used as a cover for discriminatory practices. Any complaints about discriminatory door policy will be investigated.
Venues are encouraged (and will receive a badge for) providing at least one gender-neutral restroom. All restroom facilities must be clearly signed and accessible.
Venues are encouraged to provide harm reduction services including free water, chill-out areas, first aid, and awareness teams. Where legally permissible, drug checking services are encouraged. Venues that offer these services will receive visible badges on their profile.
Provide a clean, secure green room or backstage area. Ensure the sound system and monitoring are in good working order. Pay artists on time per the agreed contract. Provide clear load-in instructions and a point of contact. Treat all artists with equal professionalism regardless of their fee, following, or profile.
Respond to booking inquiries within 48 hours. Provide accurate venue specifications (capacity, sound system, stage dimensions, power supply). Communicate any changes to event logistics promptly. Maintain professional conduct in all platform interactions.
Be honest about venue capacity, facilities, and any limitations. Disclose any ongoing issues (construction, noise complaints, licensing restrictions) that may affect events. Do not misrepresent the venue in photos or descriptions.
Venues are encouraged to complete this self-assessment annually:
